Photographing a friend’s wedding is a very scary thing to be asked! I started off taking photos at friend’s weddings (when they had a real photographer too!), and learnt lots of things from practicing. Then I helped at a couple of friend’s weddings… by doing two unpaid gigs. This was for friends who couldn’t afford a “real” photographers, so it meant that they would get pictures which were better than having no photos at all but no pressure! Then, I finally did my first paid wedding- it was hard work but well worth it- good luck!!

Anonymous – Hi there,I have been reading up on all of your hfpleul hints and tips thank you for sharing. I was asked by a good friend to photograph their wedding. Both have been married once before and did not want to pay the large price of a photographer. They asked me yikes! I am an amature and am finding your blogs interesting. Your work is amazing! I only hope to capture one amazing shot and hope it is of the bride and groom. Any suggestions?I have been studying photos and books but found your insert tonight on Capturing the moment when the moment is right easing the nerves some. I love the way that you’ve got a different feel for each of the motorbike shots, they don’t all look the same just with different colours, if you know what I mean.

Sorry to hear that Dave- why is it so impossible to find models for this shoot? It’s such a beautiful location and such a great day, I’m always surprised when it doesn’t seem to be popular. I will definitely be shooting self portraiture that day!
